About Scott

I’m Scott Parkin , I have been a working voiceover and on camera actor for 36 years. I’ve been teaching Improvisation for voiceover character development & on camera commercials for 15 years. My voice has appeared in well over 1,500 radio & TV commercials and I have appeared on camera in 100’s of TV commercials, multiple TV shows and some films. I’ve also written for network television shows, freelance advertising copy for multiple large advertising agencies, live performance & sketch comedy as well.

I can currently be heard as the villain on “Major FOMO", the animated Disney+ show “Hey AJ” and on Disney’s "Phineas and Ferb".

Teaching Adults, kids & teens improvisation, and VoiceOver especially important to me as I come from the family of teachers and I’m proud to carry on the tradition.

COACHING & IMPROVISATION FOR COMMERCIAL VO & ANIMATION

Adults

My coaching philosophy is simple, and I employ it in all facets of my teaching. I believe success early and often builds confidence and confidence produces actors best possible performance. I also believe students retain information at a much higher level through performance, rather than lecture. My sessions are 80% focused on your performance and 20% guidance and redirects from me. Also I believe if it’s not fun…..why bother? So enjoying the experience and laughing a lot is important for me.

Kids & Teens

I’ve coached youth soccer worked with kids & teens in classrooms on fields , it’s an absolute blast working with them on stage! I’ve been teaching kids improvisation for VoiceOver & on camera commercials for 14 years and it is without question one of my very favorite things to do. I have found that kids & teens tend to have much less of a filter than adults and they are very familiar with the concept of “Play” so they tend to jump right in and swing for the fence. If it’s one on one teaching, we definitely do shorter sessions, depending on the age of the actor and what they’re like. Again, especially when teaching kids I feel that if it’s not fun ….why bother?

Working With Special Needs Talent in Improvisation & Voiceover

I first started working with special needs adults and kids with AWOW (A Walk On Water) 6 years ago. That was at the beach and in the surf but more recently, my daughter and I designed and taught the “Improvisation for VO” for The Ed Asner Family Center where we taught for two years. I have taught multiple classes for “Yes I Can Unity," a group who assists special needs adults looking for careers in the entertainment business. Teaching special needs students is one of the most challenging and without question the most rewarding and fun teaching jobs I get to do. I am truly honored to get to work with these individuals and I would like very much to do more of this type of work.
